Plan History:

In early 2022, South Whitehall Township, along with the consultant team of Barry Isett & Associates and Lindsay Taylor, CPRP began working on an update to the South Whitehall Township Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Plan to help identify park and recreational needs, and the resources that will be needed to accomplish both short-term and long-term park and recreational goals for the community.

The last plan was completed in 2009 and a lot has changed and evolved since then, including new additions to Township parks, new facilities, and the opening of the Jordan Creek Greenway. This plan undertook an extensive public engagement process over two years including public meetings, key person interviews, and citizen surveys.

The final draft plan has been complete and was presented to the Board of Commissioners for adoption at their regularly scheduled meeting on November 1, 2023. The Township Board of Commissioners adopted the plan, which will immediately go into effect, guiding staff as they look to fulfill the vision for South Whitehall's parks and recreation system for the next ten years.
