DARE stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. Its goal is to provide children with the skills needed to avoid involvement with drugs, alcohol, violence, and bullying. The South Whitehall Township Police Department currently has five certified DARE Instructors.

Sergeant Jason Grozier, as well as Officers Bethany Adams and Zachary Labezius are the DARE Instructors for all the Parkland Elementary Schools and St. Joseph the Worker School in South Whitehall Township, plus Kernsville, Ironton and Schneckville Elementary Schools in North Whitehall Township.  School Resource Officers Darvin Faust and Kevin Azar provide DARE instruction to Springhouse and Orefield Middle Schools.

The department has been consecutively providing DARE instruction since 1996.
